De tiid
De Tiid (pronounced “duh tie-d”) means ‘The Time’ in Friesian Dutch.
She was built in 1915 for a Dutch dairy cooperative and was used to transport cheese around the Netherlands.
She is 82’ long and is around 80 tonnes of iron. She is powered by a DAF 575 engine from 1961 and cruises comfortably at 8km/h.
She has 2 cabins with ensuite bathrooms and all modern conveniences.
Dietmar and Emma found her in a boatyard on the Nieuwe Meer, on the outskirts of Amsterdam, slowly dying a neglected death amongst other boats left there to die. She needed rescuing, so that’s exactly what they did.
9 months in a boatyard later and she has been completely overhauled, renovated, repainted and given plenty of love. She is now a much loved home, perfect for a pair of nomads who couldn’t decide where they wanted to buy a house!
